Highland Red Stag Rut — Cairngorms, Scotland

The Scottish Highlands produce some of the world's most iconic red stag stalking — wild, free-range animals on open moorland and ancient Caledonian forest. The Glenfeshie Estate in the Cairngorms National Park is legendary among European hunters for its wild genetics and dramatic scenery. September–October brings the roar, when stags bellow from dawn to dusk across the heather and grouse moors.

Traditional Highland stalking is done on foot with a professional stalker and gillie, crawling through heather and using the terrain for concealment. This is demanding, athletic hunting at its finest. Trophy class stags regularly score 350–450 CIC points on these managed estates.
