Aoudad (Barbary Sheep) Hunt — Trans-Pecos
About This Hunt
The aoudad, or Barbary sheep, is Texas's premier mountain game animal — a wild North African sheep that has established free-ranging populations in the rugged Trans-Pecos and Palo Duro Canyon country. Hunting aoudad requires serious physical conditioning: you'll be climbing steep talus slopes and rocky canyon walls in pursuit of these athletic and wary animals.
Aoudad rams with full manes and massive sweeping horns are one of the most impressive trophies in North American hunting. The Trans-Pecos landscape is spectacular — towering rimrock country near Big Bend with views that stretch for miles. Our guides are expert mountain hunters who know every canyon and cliff face in the region.
Both free-range (public land) and private ranch aoudad are available. Free-range hunts are the ultimate challenge — these animals are completely wild and unpressured on thousands of acres of broken mountain terrain. No license required for private land.
