3-Day Axis Deer Hunt — Texas Hill Country

Axis deer (Chital) are widely regarded as the most beautiful deer in the world — and they taste even better than they look. The Texas Hill Country holds one of the largest free-range axis populations outside of India, and our 5,000-acre ranch gives you exclusive access to trophy-class stags throughout the year.

Unlike native whitetail, axis deer don't follow strict seasons — stags can be found in hard velvet or full hard antler at any time of year, making every month a potential trophy opportunity. We conduct spot-and-stalk hunts from ATVs and on foot, and blind hunting over water is also productive during hot Texas summers.

Lodging is in our comfortable 4-bedroom ranch house with air conditioning, full kitchen, and a back porch overlooking a game-filled sendero. Your guide will help with field dressing and transport your deer to a local processor. Axis venison is exceptional — many hunters consider it the finest venison available, comparable to premium beef.

No Texas hunting license is required for axis deer (an exotic species). Year-round availability makes this a perfect hunt for any time of year.
