Sika deer are perhaps the most vocally exciting exotic species in Texas — during the rut, bulls produce haunting whistles and bugles reminiscent of elk. These compact, agile deer are notoriously wary and challenging to stalk within range, making a mature sika stag a genuine accomplishment.
