Driven Red Grouse Shooting — Bolton Abbey Estate, Yorkshire Moors
About This Hunt
Driven red grouse on the Yorkshire Moors — the world's premier driven bird shooting. Birds reaching 60–70 mph over butts, 200–400 brace days at peak season. Tweed clothing, matched guns, experienced loaders. Full day includes elevenses, shooting lunch, and cocktail hour. The pinnacle of British fieldsports. The Glorious Twelfth (August 12) is the most celebrated date on the British sporting calendar — the opening of driven grouse season. Bolton Abbey Estate sits in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and has been producing driven grouse days for generations. Red grouse are the fastest and most challenging driven game bird in the world — high, curling birds at 60–70 mph require instinctive shooting and a seasoned loader. Each gun has an assigned loader; pairs of guns are recommended for maximum sport. The full-day format includes traditional elevenses on the moor, a shooting lunch, and evening cocktails — the complete British fieldsports experience.
