Outdoors International·📍 Texas·$3,500

About This Hunt

The "poor man's mountain sheep" — rugged, fast, and challenging across West Texas canyon country. Heavy chaps of hair on the chest and legs. No draw required on private land.

Aoudad (Barbary sheep) are native to the Atlas Mountains of North Africa but have thrived in the Trans-Pecos region of West Texas since their introduction in the 1950s. They now inhabit the dramatic canyon country around the Guadalupe Mountains in large numbers.

Hunt across broken terrain of cedar, catclaw, and canyon walls for these quick, tough animals. No draw required on private land — multiple outfitters operate in the region. Spot & stalk is the primary method, making for a physical and rewarding hunt.
