South Dakota is the pheasant capital of the world, and Northern Plains Outfitters delivers the full experience. Based near Athol in the James River Valley corridor — the densest wild pheasant habitat in North America — this lodge-based operation runs 3-day packages for 4–6 hunters. Expect 3-bird daily limits over pointing and flushing dogs on 10,000+ acres of native grass, cattail sloughs, and food plot edges. Heated lodge, home-cooked meals, bird processing, and satellite TV included. Guided hunts run October through January; prime season is October–November before pressure builds.
