New Mexico's Canadian River canyon country holds one of the largest wild aoudad populations in North America — these rugged North African sheep have thrived in the broken badlands and canyon terrain since their introduction decades ago. New Mexico aoudad hunting offers the challenge of truly wild sheep in spectacular canyon country at a fraction of the cost of native sheep hunts.

Caprock Canyon Outfitters works both private ranch and Bureau of Land Management land in the eastern New Mexico canyon country — some of the most dramatic scenery in the Southwest. Aoudad rams with 28"+ bases and full manes are taken regularly. No draw required on private land; BLM land requires a New Mexico hunting license (no tag for aoudad).

This is a physically demanding hunt — aoudad inhabit vertical canyon walls and talus fields that demand serious mountain fitness. Our guides are expert canyon hunters who know every drainage in the region.
