Chamois — New Zealand High Country Chamois, Canterbury Region, NZ
About This Hunt
European chamois were introduced to New Zealand's Southern Alps in the early 20th century and have thrived in the high-country terrain above 5,000 feet. New Zealand High Country Chamois runs extreme alpine stalks at 8,000+ feet in the rugged Canterbury Region, targeting mature chamois bucks in some of the most spectacular scenery on earth.
This is a physically demanding hunt requiring good fitness and a head for heights. Your guide will glass from ridgelines and peaks, locating chamois before planning multi-hour stalks through the alpine environment. Combination hunts with red stag and Himalayan tahr are available — many hunters pair chamois with a tahr safari for the ultimate NZ mountain experience. Season runs March through June. $4,200 for 5 days.
