About This Hunt

The Platte River Valley near Kearney, Nebraska is the staging grounds for the world's largest sandhill crane migration — over 600,000 birds funnel through a 60-mile stretch of the Platte River every September. Nebraska Platte River Crane Hunt puts you in the middle of this spectacular migration with large decoy spreads and expert calling.

Sandhill crane season in Nebraska runs through September. Three-bird limit per hunter. These big birds — dubbed the "Ribeye of the Sky" — are challenging gunning and outstanding table fare. The hunt is run from layout blinds in harvested cornfields adjacent to the river, where cranes feed heavily before their evening roost flight. $350/day with guide, decoys, and field permission included.
