Brown Bear β Tatra Mountains, Slovakia
About This Hunt
Slovakia's Tatra and Fatra mountain ranges hold a recovering brown bear population of approximately 1,200 bears. Strictly quota-controlled hunts take a small number of problem animals annually, making Slovak bear tags extremely rare and valuable. For the European bear hunter who wants an alternative to Romania, Slovakia offers dramatic mountain scenery and a genuine wilderness experience.
Slovakia Hunting Services arranges all permit and quota paperwork through the state forest management authority. Hunts are conducted in the traditional central European style β high seat hunting over established bait sites in dense mountain forest, supplemented by evening stalking on forest roads. Bears are sighted almost daily throughout the summer and fall.
The Tatra Mountains UNESCO protected landscape creates a stunning backdrop for this hunt. Combined hunting for chamois and red deer is available on the same concession. All transport from Bratislava or Vienna airports arranged.
